Wallace Silversmiths began in Connecticut in 1815. Robert Wallace soon learned how to make "German Silver" flatware, which was made of a nickel alloy. After much growth and change within the company, R. Wallace and Sons Mfg. Co. branched out into creating silver flatware as well as high-grade nickel-silver plated flatware.
From there further growth continued and a company called Wallace Brother was formed to created silver plated flatware. In 1934 after much improvement in their manufacturing processes the company created their most popular pattern, the "Third Dimension Beauty Collection". Today, after many acquisitions and name changes the company exists as Wallace Silversmiths which is owned by Katy Industries. Interestingly, Katy Industries also owns Towle Silversmiths.
